Quite incredible that this short piece by the Labour spokeswoman on mental health reveals that there was more time taken off for mental health reasons in the NHS than even Covid.
Clearly there must be an exceptional amount of pressure on the NHS currently, but surely the least we or rather, the government should be doing is to make the NHS a very happy place to work.
People who are happy are much less likely to need time off for mental well-being.
The government should not be slicing and dicing and ducking and diving so as to privatise and reorganise the organisation in order to benefit their friends.
Government should, to use their own terminolgy, be putting an arm round the NHS to give them all security and comfort.
The enormous healthcare backlog definitely stands more chance of being cleared by being focussed first on NHS people and not NHS systems.
