Spanish UBI may well be forthcoming

The Spanish (Socialist coalition) government is looking to roll out a Universal Basic Income (UBI) it seems.

Although the British Prime Minister may be in intensive care, importantly, so too are the lives and livelihoods of many of the rest of the British.

Radical measures are needed.

So it seems entirely logical that the Spanish – a little further on, in the Coronavirus disaster, should be considering widely… so their

.. government’s broader ambition is that basic income becomes an instrument “that stays forever, that becomes a structural instrument, a permanent instrument.”

This will need to be a Tory policy in the UK I suppose?

Unless – dear dear – we get some speedy and really radical thought from Labour….

  1. Karl Greenall -

I am afraid that Labour are going to be too busy trying to persuade our very heavily trolled and propagandised fellow citizens that, unlike the now “fiscally reckless” Tories, Labour can be trusted to maintain the sacred flame of economic orthodoxy.
I write as a disappointed Labour Party member.

    1. Peter May -

People without savings will be beginning to run out of money and I cannot believe Labour will allow them to rot because of economic orthodoxy – at least I b. well hope they don’t!
